During therapy

I want to find out more about the therapy I’m having or about other therapies

You can find out more about the therapy you are having in several ways. You can look it up on the Internet; for example, Wikipedia has useful descriptions of most of the common psychological therapies and counselling methods. Most professional therapy organisations also have informative websites, so if you know which organisation your therapist belongs to, you can look that up. Some of the most common organisations can be found here.

There are useful lists of therapies available at

http://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/help-information/mental-health-a-z/T/talking-therapies/

and

http://www.bacp.co.uk/seeking_therapist/theoretical_approaches.php.

And you can find descriptions on our ‘Types of Therapy’ page.
